The most popular Kombucha brand globally, GT’s Living Foods is venturing into a new market: the marijuana industry. The firm is launching a marijuana–infused brew known as Cannabliss in the state of California.
GT’s Living Foods has operated as part of the health and wellness sector for more than 20 years. It currently holds roughly 47% of the category market share through continued innovation. The brand has been brewing healthy beverages for more than two decades, which makes its move to create its first marijuana-infused line a well-calculated one.
The CEO and founder of the company, GT Dave, stated that the company couldn’t ignore the power of the marijuana plant as it continued to innovate with plant-based wellness, noting that the plant’s power went beyond recreational and aligned with the company’s belief that plants and food are medicine. GT Dave explained that when combined with other natural adaptogens, marijuana provided various healing properties and positive benefits.
With the introduction of its cannabis-infused beverage to the market, the company hopes to unleash the power of the cannabis plant so consumers can obtain some of its body health and mind benefits.
The company’s Cannabliss line combines CBD and THC with prebiotics from apple cider vinegar, full-spectrum marijuana and a blend of mushrooms, in order to nourish the gut. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the primary psychoactive compound in marijuana that induces a high. On the other hand, CBD (cannabidiol) is a common active ingredient found in marijuana. Unlike THC, this compound doesn’t cause any highs.
The beverage will be available in two varieties: wild and mild. The two come in these flavors:
- Cannabliss wild ginger haze, which has a lemon and ginger flavor and has been infused with 3 mg of CBD and 7 mg of THC.
- Cannabliss mild piña express, which has a pineapple flavor and has been infused with 7 mg of CBD and 3 mg of THC
Cannabliss will be available for purchase by consumers at various dispensaries in the state of California.
The company is one of the largest mainstream beverage companies to venture into the marijuana industry. Other big companies participating in the industry include Constellation Brands, which has injected billions into Canopy Growth.
Earlier this year, Canopy Growth began selling its CBD-infused sparkling water, Quatreau, which comes in four flavors: blueberry with acai, ginger with lime, passion fruit with guava and cucumber with mint.
The stage looks set for stiff competition between the new kid on the block and established cannabis drink companies such as BevCanna Enterprises Inc. (CSE: BEV) (OTCQB: BVNNF) (FSE: 7BC).
